Carpet Coating

Commercial grade coating for carpets & soft furnishings

687 Carpet Protect is based on CCM’s “Universal Coating 697” but specially adapted for carpets and home textiles where a shorter durability is acceptable, but price per m² plays a central role.

The coating is an aqueous, room-temperature curing impregnation for textiles (PES, cotton, PA and blends) that provides hydrophobic (water-repellent) and oleophobic (oil-repellent) properties.

The penetration of water, dirt, coffee, cola, ketchup, red wine, and more is significantly reduced. Furthermore, the penetration of cooking grease, oil, and dry contaminants into the fibre structure is minimised, allowing most soiling to be removed easily.

The formulation is based on organofunctional silanes, is nanoparticle-free, breathable, and entirely water-based.

Application & Dilution

It is recommended to wear nitrile or butyl gloves with a minimum thickness of ≥ 0.7 mm and a tested breakthrough time of > 480 minutes.

Shake or stir the concentrate well before use and dilute 1:25 with demineralised water.

Application method: spray application

Apply the material evenly to form a thin wet film on the surface. Avoid droplet formation. If necessary, distribute excess liquid with a cloth.

Drying time is at least 12 hours at room temperature. At lower temperatures (e.g. 10 °C), drying can take up to 24 hours.

Yield is up to 40 m²/litre – depending on the texture and absorbency of the substrate. Highly absorbent materials like carpets require significantly more product than fine fabrics such as silk.

The coating acts as a temporary protective film – contamination should be removed within 2–3 minutes to avoid staining.
