Textile Coatings: New EU rules – Three technologies from CCM

Since 10 October 2026, new EU restrictions have applied to certain fluorinated chemicals (PFAS). Additional applications will be covered from October 2027. Which products are affected depends on their composition and intended use.

CCM offers technology categories for different requirements and markets:

PFAS-Free and Reduced-PFAS Technologies

7681 and 8685: 100% PFAS-free – without fluorinated active ingredients.
7656 (& concentrate 7658): Fluorinated technology with PFHxA and related substances below the relevant legal limits under EU Regulation 2024/2462.

C4 Technology

789 and 8689 (& concentrate 9685): C4-based fluorinated technology offering high water, oil, grease and stain repellency.

C6 Technology

689 and 7689 (& concentrate 7685): High-performance C6 coatings for applications and markets where their use remains permitted.
687: C6 coating for carpets

¹ also dilutable 30-50% (weight-%) of 7681, rest filled to 100% (weight-%) with demineralized water. Recommended for synthetic and poly cotton fabrics, not usable on cotton fabrics and absorbent leather. No oleophobicity.
² Complies with the latest European Union Regulation 2024/2462 (<25 ppb for PFHxA and <1000 ppb for total fluorine content).

Fluorine Free Liquid Glass Coatings

This stunning technology is completely fluorine free yet provides outstanding hydrophobicity. The range is suitable for use in all areas but specifically, it is designed for use within the DIY/Retail and Commercial sectors where ease of application in a wide range of environments is essential. The coatings perform in a very similar way to our world renowned Liquid Glass coatings in that they create a protective hydrophobic layer which is exceptionally easy to clean.

Key Attributes

Free from any form of fluorinated agents, essential for use in certain countries
Free from solvents: Alcohol can be added if required for certain applications e.g. leather coating
Ease of application: Easy to apply and very easy to buff when applied to auto surfaces and glass
Excellent easy-to-clean effect: Shower screens, oven fronts and fridge exteriors are cleaned in seconds
Good durability: The coatings will last for approximately one year in areas of low abrasion
Biostatic effect: Reduces proliferation of bacteria
